What to do this spring… Flagler County - PART 1

As many parts of the country are still struggling with cold weather, here in Palm Coast we are entering what is arguably the best time of the year.  With temperatures in the high seventies during the day and a wonderful sixty-degree low at night, this is the time to get out into nature.  One great idea for the spring and summer time in Palm Coast and Flagler county is, learn how to kiteboard!  One of the newer sports to come about in recent years is kiteboarding.

This fun sport combines surfing with an overhead kite.  As you drive north on A1A just past Marineland, you come to the Matanzas inlet, and you will see a rainbow of colored kites in the wind with people zipping along on modified surfboards underneath.  Unlike surfing, the hardest part is not staying on the board; it is harnessing the power of the wind.  Once you learn how to get the kite into the air…you are off!

You can take the family bass fishing on Crescent Lake.  The western most part of Flagler County borders this body of water.  The lake is known for producing some of the best bass fishing anywhere, and lays claim to being the “bass fishing capital of the world”.  Once you have your fishing gear together, head over to Shell Bluff, a launch that will give you direct access to Crescent Lake and great bass fishing.
