Flagler County - Highest Standards in terms of Water Quality!
On the Palm Coast, when we say “come on in, the water is great!” we aren’t kidding.
Flagler County beaches maintain high standards in terms of water quality, according to a new report from the National Resources Defense Council.
The Florida Department of Health administers the state’s beach monitoring and notification program. For the last five years, 307 sites throughout the state have been monitored once a week. In most coastal counties with beach-going populations, officials issue an advisory if EPA standards for bacteria count are exceeded. In some instances beaches are even closed.
While Florida has more than 600 public coastal beaches bordering the Atlantic and Gulf coastline, Flagler beaches were among a handful of those that had no bacteria readings that exceeded EPA standards. So surfs up – enjoy!
